Day1: Arrival
Upon arrival at Kigali International Airport you will be welcomed by our professional drive guide ready to greet and escort you to your chosen hotel. He will introduce you briefly to one of Africa’s cleanest cities and transfer you to the hotel

Day2: Transfer to Nyungwe National Park via Culture corridor
After breakfast, you will be picked by our professional driver guide and proceed to the ancient King’s palace at Nyanza, and National Museum (Ethnographic Museum) at Huye. The King’s Palace is less about ancient history and more about royal residences. A guided tour explains some of the architectural idiosyncrasies inside the royal compound and other curiosities such as why the woman who looked after the king’s milk was never able to marry. Continue with Ethnographic Museum (one of Africa finest ethnographic collection. Here, you get a rich insight into Rwandans culture with its seven galleries that cover an impressive array of topics on almost anything about Rwanda you can imagine: banana beer, geology, cosmology, farming, music, dance, poetry, history, tools, hunting, animal husbandry, weaving, woodwork and transport. Day3: Chimpanzee trekking and canopy walkway
Nyungwe rain-forest national park is located in the Southwestern region of Rwanda, at an elevation of over 1600m, sounds and sights collaborate to create a magic experience as you journey through the majestic rainforest. The park holds the source of Africa’s great rivers, feeding the Nile in the east and Congo River in the west, and is known as the most endemic species -rich in Africa. It is a home to habituated chimpanzees and 12 other primate species, birds with over 300 species, butterflies and moths abound and the forest comprises of more than 243 species with canopy reaching 70m high in places, orchids and over 1000 plant types.
After breakfast, hike into the depth of Nyungwe rainforest for chimpanzee trekking. The adventure includes traversing through the vines and thorny bushes across the forest floor along the muddy trails and before long you will find yourself in the middle of a group of chimpanzees. Chimpanzees still rule the landscape here, flourishing in a place that has been untouched by man. You will spend some time with the chimpanzees observing them as they go about their day to day activities and you can tell that they are biologically similar to yourself.

Later after lunch you will go for canopy walkway that gives an exhilarating perspective on the ancient treetops, bird’s eye view of the Albertine Rift endemic species and countless butterflies. For meals and accommodation at lodge.

Day4: Transfer to Volcanoes National Park and Iby’Iwacu culture village |
Volcanoes National Park lies in northwestern Rwanda and borders Virunga National Park in the Democratic Republic of Congo and Mgahinga Gorilla National Park in Uganda. The national park is known as a haven for the rare and endangered mountain gorilla and golden monkeys. It is home to five of the eight volcanoes of the Virunga Mountains (Karisimbi, Bisoke, Muhabura, Gahinga and Sabyinyo), and spans 160 km2 covered in rainforest and bamboo. The park was the base for the zoologist Dian Fossey.
After breakfast, relax at the lodge and later transfer to Volcanoes National. Later after lunch, you will head for cultural experience at the Gorilla Guardians (Iby’ Iwacu culture village). Iby’Iwacu Cultural Village is a living museum of Rwanda’s ancient ways supporting the local community. Day5: Gorilla Trekking
This morning after an early breakfast, you will set off with your packed lunch to the park headquarters to be allocated a gorilla tracking group at 7am. You will get a briefing by your trackers, and then you start off to the amazing adventure of Gorilla trekking. Wandering along narrow trails in search of a gorilla troop. Today will provide you with Rwanda’s most iconic experience, one of the world’s only opportunity to connect with endangered Mountain Gorillas.
The tracking / trekking can entail some thorough climbing as well as hiking although when you come face to face with the tranquil yet potent Mountain Gorillas, watching them only a few meters away from you observing the group, the baby with the mothers, the gorillas partaking their everyday routine just right in front of you is all very overwhelming experience. After a lifetime experience of trekking Mountain Gorillas , you will go for lunch and later drive back to Kigali for departure.

Additional Information on what to carry for the activities

– Definitely wear proper walking boots, one client our trip wore trainers on the mountain, could hardly stand up. Where the gorillas flatten the bushes and ferns it is very slippy to walk on
– Wear long trousers and gaiters – you will be walking through dense bush in places and don’t want scratches or creepy crawlies up your legs
