Arrival & Fly To Akagera NP For A Night Game Drive
On arrival at Kigali International Airport clear Rwanda customs & immigration formalities and proceed to Arrivals where you will be welcomed by our company representative, He/she will introduce you to the country of thousand hills and brief you about your safari . According to your arrival time, you will board a scheduled flight to Akagera National Park. Here, you will meet with our professional drive guide ready to escort you at the lodge and help you with checking in formalities. Later in the evening, you will go for a night game drive to spot nocturnal wildlife. Dinner and overnight at the lodge.

GameDrive & Boat Cruise
Akagera National Park lies in eastern Rwanda, hugging the border with Tanzania. Its named after Akagera river that flows along the eastern boundary and feeds into a labyrinth of lakes. The north of park is mostly fairly low-lying grasslands and savannah plains, similar in feel to the ‘traditional’ safari areas of East Africa. To the west are rolling hills and valleys more typical of Rwandan countryside while to the east, the Akagera River feeds into a series of lakes, marshes and papyrus swamps that constitute central and eastern Africa’s largest protected wetlands.Our driver will pick you up 7am for morning game drive in search for the early risers in the park. With Lunch at Akagera game lodge and later a Sunset boat trip on Lake Ihema, the second largest lake in Rwanda. During this amazing expedition, you will sail along the water edge which is covered with several trees, drift past numerous giant hippos and see several crocodiles some in the shallows of the water and other basking on the shore. In addition, you will see a number of water birds so professional birders will be able to identify a large number of birds. Dinner and overnight at the lodge.

Full Game Drive & Fly To Kigali
After breakfast, with a packed lunch, you will head for a thrilling full game drive from the southern part of the park to the Northern part. The day game drive offers you the opportunity to spot a variety of wild animals such as elephants, buffalos, lions, Masai giraffe, gazelles, impala, baboons, oribi, Butchel’s zebra, topi, bush baby, leopard and bushbuck. And water lovers like Crocodiles and Hippos, coupled with large concentration of bird life; over 525 species identified, later you will exit the park and fly to Kigali and check in at the hotel for meals and accommodation.

Fly To Volcanoes NP & Dian Fossey Museum
A leisure morning as you sip Rwanda’s finest cup of coffee, later after lunch, you will fly to Volcanoes National Park. You will meet our drive and escort you to Dian Fossey museum. This high-quality research centre features an exhibit that comprises interpretive panels about mountain gorillas and the conservation efforts that Dian Fossey pioneered. It also shelters Dian Fossey artefacts, a 3D interactive model of the Virunga Mountains and casts of real gorilla nose prints. Later you will transfer to the lodge for meals and accommodation.

Gorilla Treking & Iby’Iwacu Culture Village
“In the heart of Central Africa, so high up that you shiver more than you sweat,” wrote the eminent primatologist Dian Fossey, “are great, old volcanoes towering almost 15,000 feet, and nearly covered with rich, green rainforest – the Virungas.”The magnificent Volcanoes National Park lies along the border with the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) and Uganda. With an area of 125 square kilometer, it is home to one third of the world’s remaining mountain gorillas, golden monkey and a rich mosaic of montane ecosystems which embrace evergreen and bamboo forest, open grassland, swamp and heath. The park’s name and the majestic landscape is framed by five volcanoes it houses: Kalisimbi, Muhabura, Bisoke (with a verdant crater Lake), Sabyinyo and Gahinga.After an early breakfast, we will drive to the park reception to be allocated a gorilla tracking group at 7am. After an introduction from the park ranger about the trekking dos and don’ts, The enlivening trek to the gorilla’s natural habitat of shady bamboo forest begins. Once you reach the family, you are allowed to spend 1 hour with these amazing creatures watching them only a few meters away from you. Observing the group, the baby with the mothers, Gorillas partaking their everyday routine just right in front of you, is all very overwhelming experience. After trekking you will go for lunch and later proceed with Iby’Iwacu culture village (Gorilla guardians). A visit to Gorilla Guardians gives you a rare chance to meet local people, in their environment, with a taste of Rwandan culture and traditions. A guided community walk through this village will reward you with unusual and unforgettable experience as you visit different sites in this community. Dinner and overnight at the lodge.

Golden Monkey Trekking & Transfer To Kivu
After an early breakfast, we will head for yet another drive to the Park headquarters, to be allowed a golden group to trek. The exhilarating climb through the mysterious intimacy of the rainforest with the colorful birds will takes you to the rare golden monkeys. The endangered Golden monkey enjoys a territory of highland forests, especially bamboo, living in groups of up to thirty individuals. A handful of troops in Volcanoes National Park have been habituated and can be tracked in a similar way to the gorillas. The monkeys are playful and inquisitive and often spend their time leaping from bamboo branches or frolicking on the forest floor towards the base of the volcanoes where their striking golden fur coat, contrasting the green rainforests. Their dynamically character of make vast leaps from tree to tree will gives you an unforgettable experience. Later after lunch, we will drive to Lake Kivu for meals and accommodation.

Kayaking
Lake Kivu is one of a string of huge freshwater lakes which lie along Africa’s Great Rift Valley. Dominating the border between Rwanda and the Democratic Republic of Congo; Lake Kivu is Rwanda’s largest lake, and the sixth largest lake in Africa. It stands at a height of 1, 460 meters (4,790 ft) above sea level, 89 km in length and 48 km wide, covering a surface of 2700 km2 at an average depth of 240m with maximum depth at 480m, water volume of 500km3. It is surrounded by forested hills, with sandy bays and fishing villages. Lake Kivu empties into the Ruzizi River, which flows southwards into Lake Tanganyika.
After breakfast, you will head for Kayaking, travel peacefully along the spectacular coast of one of the African Rift Valley’s Great Lakes using modern and very stable sea kayaks. After a delicious lunch, you will enjoy an evening at the refreshing breathe of lake’s views. you Meals and accommodation at the hotel.
After breakfast, relax at hotel and later transfer to Musanze airstrip for your scheduled to connect with our international fright.

- Definitely wear proper walking boots, one client our trip wore trainers on the mountain, could hardly stand up. Where the gorillas flatten the bushes and ferns it is very slippy to walk on
- Wear long trousers and gaiters – you will be walking through dense bush in places and don’t want scratches or creepy crawlies up your legs

- Take a sweatshirt as it can be cold on the mountain
