The park has an impressive selection of activities on offering the only canopy walk in east Africa, chimpanzee trekking, tea plantations, hiking through the beautiful nature trails and bird watching
The park is located in the southwestern part of Rwanda, is Nyungwe rainforest park. At an elevation off over 1600m, sounds and sights collaborate to create a magical experience as you journey through the majestic rainforest. It holds the source of Africa’s great rivers, feeding the Nile River on the east and Congo River on the West.
The long spanning (100km) rainforest is acclaimed for its biodiversity and its population of the endemic species, its ecosystem is composed rainforest, bamboo, grassland, swamps and bog habitats.
It has 13 primate species including the chimpanzees, white bearded L’Hoest ‘s monkey , large troops of the acrobatic Angola colobus monkey , the forest is one of the ornithological sites in Rwanda , harboring nearly 280 bird species including the 27 Albertine Rift Endemics , 240 tree species with canopy walk reaching 70 meters high in places , orchids and over 1,000 plant types .
Water fall hike. The trails all the way to the park car –park, passing through the rising and falling tea plantations scattered with forest patches that are worth seeing at close proximity with sights of silver monkeys plus other species of monkeys.
