1 Kigali International Airport pick up and Transfer to Nyungwe National Park.

Red collared Mountain Babbler
Nyungwe National park is a virgin forest and the largest natural forest remaining in Africa. home to over 300 species of birds, which of 27 of these species are regional endemics, it is internationally listed Important Birding Area. Some interesting bird species including Yellow-eyed Black Flycatcher, Masked Mountain Apalis, Rwenzori Hill Babbler, Neumann’s and Grauer’s Warbles, Yellow-eyed Black Flycatcher, double-collared, purple-throated, Archer’s Robin-chat, Strange Weaver, Mountain Sooty Boubou, Rwenzori, blue-headed, Red-collared Mountain Babbler, Stripe-breasted Tit, Handsome Francolin, and Rockefeller’s Sunbird. The other wildlife species found here include; 13 primate species like chimpanzees, owl faced monkeys, Golden monkeys, vervet monkeys, leopards, Golden cats, olive baboons, greater bush baby, Dwarf Galago etc … Nyungwe also has one of the highest diversity of primate species in a single location, 13 have been recorded including the Chimpanzees.
After breakfast, we will drive to Nyungwe National Park en route visit the King’s Palace and the ethnographic museums. Meals and accommodation at Nyungwe Top View Hotel.

2 Mt Bigugu trail birding.

After breakfast we will go for a full day hike along the Bigugu. The trail is known to produce many Albertine Rift endemics that include: Neumann’s Warbler, Rwenzori Apalis, Mountain Masked Apalis, Red-faced woodland Warbler, Rwenzori Turaco, Strip-breasted Tit, Blue-headed Sunbird, Rwenzori Batis, Regal Sunbird, etc… Meals and accommodation at Nyungwe Top View Hotel.

3 Kamiranzovu swamp birding and canopy walk.

After breakfast we will head to Kamiranzovu Swamp and enjoy the whole morning birding, then later after lunch we will go for canopy walkway which offers access to good views of birds and some primates in the canopy that otherwise are not easy to spot from the ground. Dinner and overnight at Nyungwe Top View Hotel.

4 Transfer to Bwindi.

Bwindi is a bird watchers’ haven, it has 347 species of birds. The forest has 10 of the 26 globally threatened species in Uganda, five of which are vulnerable. Bwindi has 23 of the locally habituated Albertine Rift endemic species in the country and some, such as African Green Broadbill, Chapin’s Flycatcher and Shelley’s Crimson-wing. Bwindi is a home to about 400 Gorillas a half of the world’s population to the famous mountain gorillas
After breakfast we will drive to Uganda. Meals and accommodation at Bwindi Jungle Lodge.

5 Birding to Ruhiija.

Birds are both plentiful and easy to see; many species associating in mixed feeding flocks are active throughout the day. After breakfast we will go lookout for the striking Handsome Francolin, Cinnamon-chested bee-eater, Western Green Tinkerbird, Mountain and yellow-streaked Greenbuls, Mountain masked and chestnut-throated Apalises, Red-faced woodland Warbler, Rwenzori batis, white-tailed crested Flycatcher etc…
After lunch we will take a trail to Munwindi swamp that promises some of the most difficult of all rift endemics species. Meals and accommodation in Bwindi Jungle Lodge.

6 Transfer to the birding paradise lake Bunyonyi.

Lake Bunyonyi is the second deepest lake in Africa with its deep end being at 900m and one of the stunning places in the country which provide a breathtaking atmosphere. There are over 200 bird species at the Lake and these include; White tailed blue monard, African Harrier Hawk, grey crowned cranes, Herons, egrets, the cardinal woodpecker, the levillant cuckoo, slender-billed baglafetch, weavers, levillant cuckoo etc…Upon arrival at the Lake of the small birds, a motor boat awaits you for transport to Bushara Island. Dinner and overnight at Bunyonyi Overland Resort.

7 Lake Bunyonyi Birding and Tansfer to Kigali.

After breakfast you will take a boat ride along Lake Bunyonyi and explore the surroundings from the water surface. Drift quietly to the several small islands and enjoy the rich birdlife. Return for lunch we will drive to Kigali. Meals and accommodation at Mille Collines Hotel.

8 Kigali city tour and Airport transfer .

After breakfast you will go for a city tour (Genocide Memorial, Museum Against Genocide, Nyamirambo women center, etc .then later drive to airport for departure.
